Offering Your Energies to 2009 Wolvenwold Events
We are always seeking new (& old!):
musicians, performers, authors, fire-spinners, workshop and ritual presenters, guest speakers, helpers, & staff members, to come and join us on our journeys.
We can not offer a guarantee in the way of monetary compensation for any of these energies, and for that, we truly apologize! One day, we DO plan to be able to compensate our special guests & musicians heartily, but for now, all we can offer for certain is a bit of gas money (and that only is if the event has done very well and has made a profit), possibly food, admittance to the festival, and a great time! We do have other ways of taking care of our folks, though, and believe it is important to do so.
What we DO offer is free admission (for musical performers & special guest presenters, and for their immediate family, for staff, setup crews, stagehands, and possibly for a couple of ritual facilitators), we can usually offer food, (for special guest speakers & bands, when available) and space to sell you wares for free, if we (and you!) think you will be a worthy contributor to our gathering. You must provide your own lodgings, in the way of camping equipment. We do not have cabins. Contact us to discuss specifics. Staff members are expected to be here at least a day before and after the gathering, and attend the gathering throughout. Staff members change yearly, but please do contact us if you'd like to work the event! It's not such hard work, and you get to meet lots of very cool people.
Workshop facilitators do not get in for free, by the way.
Work-exchange may be granted to those who attend our work weekends, so get in touch with us for info on how that works. There is also the possibility to do work-exchange at the event. Let us know what you can do, and we'll let you know if we can use you!
Everyone else is expected to pay their registration fee to attend our gatherings. If you are not on staff or a special guest performer/speaker, we must insist on this from now on. Thanks for understanding!
Registration fees help go to electricity for stage, electric for cooking needs, fuel for sawdust/supplies runs, musical supplies, piles o' paperwork, printing, t.p., soap, etc. etc. etc. Also, registration fees must be paid in advance to get the special $30 rate!!! Anyone (adults) registering at the gate will pay $40.
Everyone that comes to a Wolvenwold gathering is expected to contribute to the community, in some way. We can always use help with site chores, town runs, composting duties, heralding, registration, stage chores, cleanup, setup, tear down, and more, if you are a general attendee. We do appreciate your help, more than you know. The more you offer, in the way of energy, (and there are lots of ways to do that!) the more you will feel welcome here, and will ultimately share in the good feeling of networking that comes from community participation. These events are YOURS. Think of this as a special sanctuary that you come to visit, and an "occasional second home." Treat it like you would a family, and a home of your own. It is fun to get involved, and is also a great way to meet new people!
Currently seeking help with these positions for Beltane 2009:
(Some of these ("general" positions) will be offered to everyone; at the gate as community service time, and others may be used as a work "exchange/staff position." Staffers will also have other duties to attend to as needed. Work exchange is part time, staffers are generally full time workers.)
1) Setup/Tear down Crew: (exchange/staff position) We are specifically looking for a small crew of four or five folks who want to join our team as setup/tear down/cleanup staff this year. There will be quite a bit of work, but not hard... (setting up tents and such) and you must stay a day or two before and after the event, but your admission will be free.
2) Potties: (general) Composting potty maintenance such as moving, hauling & replacing compost buckets, keeping an eye on t.p., hand washing stations, hand sanitizer, wipes, etc. Contact Kittin at flykittin@yahoo.com for how to get involved!
3) Town Runner: (general) Plant to make at least a trip a day to town to pick up items that folks have forgotten.
4) Herald: (
POSITION FILLED) We need someone with a loud voice and great attitude to herald events, workshops, rituals, concerts, and festival info and to be on call at all times.
5) Cooks and Kitchen Faeries: (general) Wash pots & Pans & some dishes, lug water, (we may have a wagon for use) and help Robynn, or whomever will be cooking for our special guests, with general kitchen duties throughout the fest.
6) Lumberjacks: (exchange/staff position) A very important position!!! This person, or few people, will be responsible for cutting and gathering dead fall for our many fires on the land (and there are several community fire sites!). This is a definite work-exchange, or staff position, and we welcome you to get involved!!! It's nice if you have experience, too, for safety reasons.
7) Fire Tenders: (exchange/staff position) This can be an all night job, or one where shift work comes in as a necessary thing. We'll need several, and this can be a full time staff position, also. This may go along with the Lumberjack position.
8) Registration: (general) This position can be done by relatively anyone at the festival, as long as they are deemed trustworthy. You will sit and take registrations, make sure folks are registered before they set up camp, sign folks up for community work duties, hand out badges to special guests and staff members, account for number of festival attendees at any given time, keep an eye on people with questions, newbies who need guidance, etcetera. It helps to know a bit about the layout of the land to do this job. Time slots will be as follows:
Thursday Evening TBA
Friday:
8am - 12pm
12 pm - 4pm
4pm - 8pm
8pm - Midnight
Saturday:
8am - 12pm
12 pm - 4pm
4pm - 8pm
8pm - Midnight
You will also be expected to help set up registration, and possibly tear down.
9) Runners: (general) Basically running to and fro... from top to bottom and back again, here and there, to get things we need to make the event run smoothly.
10) Medical Staff & helpers (Staff) (
Positions Filled)
11) Auctioneer: (general) We will be having a fun "slave auction" where volunteers from the general community will be bid upon to do whatever "fetching" duties (within reason) are required of them by their purchaser! We have had great fun with this in the past. Proceeds will go to the land.
12) Raffle Coordinator: (general) Each vendor will be asked to offer a raffle item, and all items will be raffled off near the end of the event for the general land fund.
13) Ritual Facilitators: (staff) (
Positions Filled)
Check back often, more positions will arise as needed!
