Past Workshops/Rituals

Past workshops have included mead making, yoga, tai chi, massage therapy, tarot, guided meditations, community building, nature walks, bardic circles, poi, children's activities, paranormal investigations, belydancing, arts and crafts, and more.  We are always looking for new and interesting workshops and presentations.

If you are interested in offering a performance, workshop, or ritual at any of our events, please email us!  We do not agree to pay our special guests, (unless we know for certain we will have an extra profit, or are able to negotiate special deals on an individual basis, depending on how the event does... our events are still on the smaller side of the pagan festival scale... and we do not make much if any extra monies here yet) but we do offer free entry and vending space if your performance or proposal is accepted.  For performances, we have a beautiful, covered, 20'X30' stage.  Sound equipment is the responsibility of the music group, but some may be supplied if needed  (we do have our own PA system and soundguys available for rental).  All of our fees (all are by donation) go directly back into our land for site improvements, grass seed, electricity, festival needs (t.p., paperwork, printouts, stage lights and needs, shower heaters and repairs, etc.).  We do not as of yet make any profit on our events.  When that day comes, we are looking inot a 501c3 status for our land and its events, and will be here full time.

Help Wanted at Wolvenwold:

We are currently seeking help with the following positions:

Assistant to Beltana

Farmhand

Festival Staff

Current Descriptions of Wolvenwold/Spellsinger Staff Positions Sought:

Beltana’s Personal Assistant

Duties

Beltana Spellsinger (as a member of the band Spellsinger and as a vendor and workshop presenter) needs a traveling festival assistant (Maybe even two!), in exchange for various festival entries, food, and other benefits.  Due to occasional physical limitations and a very full schedule, I am seeking someone who will fit in with my family and my self, in a comfortable and synchronistic kind of way.  I know you are out there!  Naturally, you won’t be doing all of the things listed here, all of the time, but I need to know that you can do any of them when needed.  You will know what your schedule will be well beforehand, and there won’t be anything you can’t handle.  Of course, you may have to be creative and multi-task if need be.  As always, if you need help or assistance, you can always ask.  However, I need to know that you are largely self-sufficient, and very responsible, please and thank you.

Pack/Unpack/Setup vending booth:  There will be bins to load and unload, tables to set up, chairs to organize, table cloths, banners, flowing materials and tapestries to arrange, merchandise exhibits to set out nicely, signs and décor to display.  I will show you what to do the first time or two, so you will know what I expect.  It isn’t hard, really, and can even be lots of fun.  Part of the fun is that we take the time to make it look so very pretty!

Organize/Reorganize/Decorate:  Relating to the booth, same kind of thing, but keeping it neat and organized is a job in itself!

Vend: Tend to the vending booth, open and close it when needed, protect it in unforeseen weather (by making sure everything is put away and covered, and even closed when needed), and keep regular hours working it.  Sell merchandise, handle money well and honestly, promote merchandise and band (Spellsinger)/site (Wolvenwold)/& Bel’s personal workshop events, hand out fliers and schedules at the booth and, at times, around the festivals, and so on.

Baby sit: (and/or play with/entertain/watch over) My five year old daughter, Béla, possibly doing these tasks and more with and for her: cooking/feeding, swimming, playing, taking to playground/children’s centers, bathing, watching movies, reading, playing games, dressing/changing, pottying, carrying around sometimes, making sure she stays out of trouble and is looked after, and other basic “nanny-like” duties when and where called for.  It is possible that this ends up being a position all of its own.  We will definitely be doing background checks for anyone doing these tasks involving caring for family members.

Cook/Serve food:  Not all the time, but occasionally, and possibly for several people when needed.  We all do this and take turns.

Clean:  Basic duties, straightening the campsite and our personal encampment, tidying, washing dishes and possibly laundry, cleaning the camper and my personal tents, etc.

Campsite:  Setup, tents, tarps, clothes lines, tables, chairs, fire pit, tikis, etc.

Qualities I am seeking

I need someone who is ALL of these things, and I will ask for references and check backgrounds when and where necessary:

Trustworthy

Self-sufficient

Responsible

Mature

Likes children

Clean record (I will be doing a background check for this, FYI)

No drug/alcohol abusers

Self-starter

Early riser

Pleasant, positive personality

Physically able-bodied

Able to camp, and get along well in the outdoors for long periods of time if need be

Mentally well-adjusted (a drama free vibe is a nice quality, as well)

Open-minded (we will be going to a lot of pagan and alternative spiritual events)

Tolerant (of those with other religious/spiritual/sexual/political viewpoints)

&

Someone who believes in themselves and the possibilities of others to do great things for the planet!  Yay!!!

Ideally

This might ideally suit a teenage girl or young lady (preferably over 18, or at least with specific permission from parents, and we will check on this thoroughly).  Of course, this is just what has manifested in my own mind as “the someone” who might like to have, and would appreciate this kind of opportunity, but it definitely does not have to be someone who meets this criteria.  If you are an elderly grandma, or even a kindly biker dude who loves kids, or if you just think you can handle these tasks happily and are ready to make some new connections, then this just might be the perfect thing for YOU!  (& you know who you are!)

Benefits

Event Compensation:  This will be your fully paid entry into the event(s) (one, or several, or perhaps even a whole season, depending on how you do). The first time or two will be a trial period, of course, to see how you like us, how we like you, how everyone gets along and how well the job is completed to satisfaction!

Food: Yes, we will feed you, too... though you may have to cook or prepare your own food from time to time.  Or, it is possible that the whole encampment might share this duty, or we might eat out at the food vendors’ booths.  If you are picky or have allergies, you can give me a list of preferences, and I will see what I can do to accommodate, but this (not always, but usually in these particular travels) is a musical/spiritual group that is largely omnivorous, and eats a bit of everything.  (And we do not go hungry.)  We do bring along plenty of healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, nuts, grains, meats, etcetera... so you will not go hungry or lack good nutritious offerings by any means.  You are, of course, welcome to bring along some (or all) of your own food if you like, at your own expense.  You will be MY assistant, personally, but will occasionally have to be able to be a part of the whole Spellsinger “team,” just like I am.  It takes a village!

Networking: There are plenty of opportunities for the right person to do a LOT of networking and fellowship/sharing at these events, and this is really where the most wonderful benefits lie!  These events can be a lot of fun, but they can be overwhelming to first-timers, too.  We will work with you to see if you like it, to see if you fit in, and to learn if it is really for you.  The opportunities can be amazing.  You can really meet a lot of cool folks.

Fun:  Of course you will have fun!  I am far from a slave driver, and I want you to have fun just as much as I want to have fun!  I know and am confidant that it will be a lot easier to HAVE fun if there is someone there to share the workload with me, so that everyone can have fun.  That said, work does always come first, of course.  But part of this kind of work, honestly, IS to have fun, at the same time!  Otherwise, we wouldn’t be doing it!

Free time to socialize:  Of course you won’t be working ALL of the time, yet you will certainly be earning your keep.  You will also, however, have plenty of time to socialize.  Consider that a good portion of the time that you will be there, you will be “free” to what you like, and “off duty.”  That will make for lots of opportunities to meet new people and have a great time.  If there are certain workshops or things that you’d like to attend, people you’d like to visit with, or so on, let me know, and we’ll do our best to work it out so that everyone gets to do what they like, as far as the schedule goes.  This should be fun for all involved.  No stress, no drama.

In all, this is a great opportunity for the right person.  I did this myself ten years ago, working for someone else at other events.  It is how I made some of the best connections and the closest friends that I have ever known.  I know how much I truly appreciated the opportunity, and now I would like to see someone else benefit as I did from the same sort of offering.  All this, and it helps me, too, tremendously!  Are you interested in trying it out?  Let me know, ASAP, and we’ll bring you along to a fun festival where you will work, have fun, network, make new friends, and enjoy a wonderful time in a sacred, uplifting, spiritually beautiful space.  The benefits can be quite rewarding for the right person with the right mindset.

Farm/Land Hand for the Wolvenwold Sanctuary

Duties

You may not have to do all of these things, but need to be able to do most of them, as a handyman.

Carpentry, repair (appliance, and all sorts), general errands, light farm/animal care (chickens, horses, cats, turkeys, birds), forestry (even a little knowledge would help), vehicle repair, gardening, cleaning, hauling, (a truck would help, though we do have a trailer for larger jobs) wood chopping, odd jobs, recycling, trash pickup, hauling and disposal, lifting, emptying compost buckets, backhoe and roadwork, and an open-mindedness toward (and/or thirst for!) learning about Earth building.

Qualities we are seeking

We are seeking someone who is trustworthy, physically capable of doing these chores, and has a good background.

Ideally

Ideally, of course, we would find someone who is available all the time, anytime, and might even end up as a land resident one day, though we are very selective about whom we have living on our land at any given time.  If this is not possible, then we would love to find someone who lives near by, has good reliable transportation, and who just needs some side work doing odd jobs.  We have had to rely on farm hands here over the last few months, and have had a couple of really great helpers out here, but they have come and gone, and we need someone who will possibly be around for a while.

Benefits

Pay: about $8 hour... (Preferred at first)

Or (Other possible compensations in lieu of monetary pay)...

Room/Board/Food (On a temporary/trial basis, only for just the right person, and we would be very strict in our choosing of this kind of land resident)

Massage/Reiki treatments

Staff for the Wolvenwold Festivals

Duties

We are no longer looking to fill any one particular festival related staff position.  Instead, we are now seeking staff folk who can do a number of General Staff Duties to include any/and/or/all of the following (and you may be asked to do any of these at any time): Gofering, town runs, running basic errands, registration, selling raffle tickets, heralding, toilet maintenance, dumping compost buckets, lifting, hauling, transporting, host/hostessing, helping/assisting, site lighting and tiki refilling, path mowing/maintenance/clearing, fire tending, wood duties, website design and maintenance (talk to Beltana specifically about this please), special guest handling, flyer/promotions, raffle mc-ing, safety/security, concert security/mc-ing, AND ESPECI ALLY TRASH PICKUP, RE CYCLING, and SITE CLEANUP BEFORE AND AFTER FESTIVALS.  We need folks who can be here before the event begins, and can stay until after the last piece of trash is picked up.  This is of utter importance this year, of all years, and we need to manifest these very essential people to help us, this year, if we are going to be able to continue to do festivals next year.

Qualities we are seeking

You do not have to see exactly what we see, and you do not have to believe what we believe, or dream the same dreams we dream. However, we do need to surround ourselves with people who are like minded, who wish to at least be a part of a vision and dream, one that is larger than ourselves, where we can come together to begin to heal the troubles that we have on this Earth as a species.  We compost everything we possibly can, and we recycle everything we possibly can.  We do not throw our cigarette butts on the ground, and we have a healthy reverence for Nature, for we realize that we are very much a part of Her, and She of Us.  We strive to live harmoniously with Her, and with one another, realizing that We are all are part of the same entity, spiritually.  We read and continue to learn more and more about indigenous species and plants, and how to make sure they continue to feel at home here.  We hunt, we grow, and we build around, atop and within a reverence for the land itself.  We are in the process of learning ALL about Earth home building, (cob/straw bale, etc.) and sharing that work through seminars and workshops, humanure composting (to keep the cycle from being broken, ultimately), gardening and growing our own food, and self-sufficiency.  We love to teach as well as learn, and we teach art, and share music, story and song. We honor one another, speak well of one another, and strive to ever honor the God and Goddess within each of us.

Ideally

We know who we are seeking, and you know who you are.  You will know if this appeals to you, and if this is something that you wish to be a part of.  It can be hard work, but it is usually a whole lot of fun, and can be very rewarding and gratifying, in ways that you might not have anticipated it would be. ;-)  Please make sure you are prepared for the physical challenges that this job might present, and be prepared to do some heavy lifting, so to speak.  Be fit enough to do the work, and if you cannot do it, please feel free (and honored) to come as a festival participant, instead.  It takes various amounts of each of us to make this kind of festival atmosphere work, and perhaps you are not cut out for the rigors of staff duties.  If you have other talents to offer the gathering, let us know!  In any case, if you think you would like to try for staff, please do not hesitate to contact us. We DO need you!!!

I repeat:  We need folks who can be here before the event begins, and can stay until after the last piece of trash is picked up.  This POST-Fest CLEANUP is of utter importance this year, of all years, and we need to manifest these people to help us, this year, if we are going to be able to continue to do festivals next year.

If we cannot find these people this year to help us, this will be our last year doing festivals on this land.

Benefits

Free entry to the Wolvenwold events (on an event-by-event basis depending upon possible, eventual year-and-a-day acceptance as a full-time staff member); networking, fellowship, socializing, and meeting new friends, of course, but the core, most significant benefit of working this kind of sacred job is the benefit that only you can appreciate when you are, at last, able to comprehend it for yourself. ;-)

If you can volunteer to be a part of the setup/tear down/cleanup crew this year, we will offer you NOT ONLY one free entry for yourself, but also one free entry for one additional  adult into the festival that you will be working.  We will be seeking to fill FOUR of these site cleanup positions this year.  Your invited other does not even have to work on the cleanup crew, if they do not wish to do so.

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Fran, Beltana, Béla, and the staff and stewards of Wolvenwold and Spellsinger
